Fatherhood

So finally I am starting this. It's been a lifetime desire that I have not been able to put to work. I  had wanted to start writing ...about Fatherhood, using my kids experience and the funny things they say or do. I had thought about this years ago,say 5 years but had been held back by the vicissitudes of life in Nigeria.
I promised myself that I'd start in Canada (I thought it will be easier: we have power, internet and everything one would need, except time).
After spending a year here,I think it's time to start. The best time to plant a tree was yesterday (according to my Chinese people) and the next best time is NOW.

CBN CURRENCY SCAM VICTIMS CRY OUT:"GIVE US BAIL AND SPEEDY TRIAL".

The suspects accused of being involved in the CBN currency scam have cried out to the Government of Nigeria and the general populace to help them out of their predicaments.Their cry is that they have been incarcerated since June 2015 without any meaningful trial and also without bail.Even though the offence is  a bailable offence , they have severally been denied bail by the authorities concerned for no reason.
According to one of the suspects,"I are not afraid to face trial as I am innocent however, I should not also be jailed for an offence I know nothing about and not be given an opportunity for a bail".See the link here
An interview with some of the dependants of the victims also showed that their children and families are in great suffering due to the slow dispensation of justice.
They are calling on all Nigerians to ask for bail and speedy trial so the innocent will not be unjustly punished.

How can I say it?

What a bad blogger I have been. Over a year?. And that after I created my blog...well, blame it on the......

Lessons the Dana Airline Crash taught me.

There have been a lot of commentaries and opinions about the Dana Flight 992 Aircrash since it happened last week Sunday (3rd June 2012).However,there are lessons to be learnt in all situations and I have compiled some lessons that the ugly incident has taught me.
Here goes:

1) "DON'T PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET": That is an old saying.with all respect to the people who crashed,it has renewed the adage. If you can, don't travel with all your family members and also if you may, do not travel together. It is possible some of the victims might still be alive if they had not all gone in the same flight.

2)" DEATH IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS": The list of people who died in the crash cuts across all strata of the societal class, gender etc. We have the aveerage Nigerian and even Professors,Bankers,Pastors,Minister's husband and so on. It should tell our leaders a thing or two, especially when they board their presidential planes.....leave a lasting legacy behind.Death is a common denominator.

3) LIVE EVERYDAY AS IF IT IS THE LAST:Some people attended church services before embarking on the journey, there are even Pastors who preached earlier in the day. Also, people on the ground who were sleeping in their homes,in the bathroom, kitchen and watching tv who ordinarily wouldnt have expected death at that instance.Prepare to meet your God,live right with every man. This could be the last minute and you might not have time for repentance.

4) FAMILY INTERDEPENDENCE IS KEY : This brings me to the cas of the three children whose parents got killed  in the crash due to the fact that their house was one of the houses the plane crashed into.On enquiry about any family member they have, they could only mention one Uncle Tony in Abuja .Despite the fact that their faces and names were splashed on the faces of dailies no relative has come for them.It could only mean one thing:they are not too close to the extended family.Agreed, families could be a pain atimes, you will always need them especially in Africa where the Government has shirked its responsibilities.

5) WHATEVER YOU SOW,YOU REAP:  I know you will be shocked at this, however I do not mean that the victims of the incident deserve to die (I am not that callous) but I am saying that the Government does not plan and thus reap calamities in hundred folds.Viewing this in the context of Nigeria, we have sown mediocrity and we are reaping the reward. The sad part is that innocent souls are being cut off .

6) THERE IS DESTINY/PREDESTINATION/FATE : Like the old saying goes "Que Sera Sera.whatever will be,will be".I have heard stories coming from this incident about people who have bought tickets and could not board, people who were cheated on the queue by Chinese and eventually could not get tickets,.Interestingly, there is this story of a man who said he had bought ticket, was waiting for boarding when someone came to tell him to sell off the ticket because Dana has been having problems with their plane and therefore could delay his flight. He therefore asked the man (FAAN official ) to help him sell off the ticket and buy another from Aero Contractors or something. They were not even thinking of Air crash when this was happening, they were thinking of DELAYS.He got to Lagos on Aero only to hear that Dana has crashed. Imagine the shock!.He and others were not yet destined to die or else........

These are a few of what the crash has made me realize. May it never happen again in Nigeria.More than prayers,we also need determination/courage to say NO to the shoddy life we are living.
